He was one of the founders of the North East Sports Awards held annually at the Seaburn Centre in Sunderland as well as being a key instigator in the North East Football Awards. Roger is also regularly in demand to host dinners for Sports Aid Foundation and the Variety Club of Great Britain as well as being the regular compere of Durham CCC's Player of the Year Awards.
