WATCHING TV TO HELP HEALTHY LIVING

News >>

Hundreds of Tyneside families will soon be watching their television as a first step to a healthier lifestyle.

North Tyneside Primary Care Trust has commissioned Box to Box Media to produce a DVD which showcases the PCT’s major commitment to encouraging exercise and healthy eating.

The eight minute item took as an example the comprehensive health programmes pursued by New York Primary School and the Riverside Centre, North Shields.

Also spotlighted was the Trust’s latest venture with North Tyneside Council, the introduction of Carnegie Clubs, a Saturday morning session that gives parents and their children a twelve week weight management programme.

The clubs have been pioneered by the highly successful team from Leeds Metropolitan University. Renowned expert on childhood obesity Professor Paul Gately made a key contribution to the DVD.
